BayFirst Solutions issued the following announcement on Oct. 24.
On Oct. 6, BayFirst Solutions joined other industry leaders as host of the 2018 Cybersecurity Symposium held on the campus of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. Additionally, BayFirst President Robert Rice participated in a panel discussion that included representatives from the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and several private sector companies that support U.S. government agencies with emerging cybersecurity technologies and intelligence infrastructure.
“BayFirst is a proud sponsor of strategic collaborations like the one recently held on Gallaudet’s campus,” Rice said. “The real world expertise that companies like BayFirst bring to the table are indispensable to the intelligence and law enforcement communities as they seek to counter growing cyber threats. The public and private sectors are working together through mission-critical partnerships and strategic planning initiatives like these to defend against cyber intrusions that undermine our safety and cost the U.S. economy billions of dollars every year.”
According to industry reports, mobile malware applications, for instance, increased more than 50 percent in 2017. In fact, cybercriminals will steal an estimated 12 billion records in 2018 alone, with that number spiking to more than 33 billion by the year 2023. Nearly half of all data breaches globally will occur in the United States over the same timeframe, with as many as 60 million Americans affected.
Presently, the U.S. government spends more than $15 billion annually combatting cyber-crimes through DoD, DHS, and other government agencies. This number does not take into account billions of unitemized cybersecurity spending that remains non-disclosed due to national security protections. BayFirst Solutions was recently named one of several dozen small business contractors capable of supporting federal technology needs through the Alliant 2 SB contract vehicle.
